Donning cut- offs, shades and an XL Hawaiian, I’d been promised
the day would be easy in its menagerie of circumstance, butterfly,
heat-haze & seed-head, that the sun, the one meant to blaze for me
would arrive, now, from behind whatever layers of cloud & everything
I could wish for be humid & sweat-soaked, taken
to resting on benches, gloried & summered & already dreaming of rain.
