a letter from the editor

welcome to perhappened mag! this inaugural issue was originally released on 6/6. however, due to circumstances in the united states and worldwide, our staff chose to restrict access for one week to those who provided proof of a donation, signature, or email in the name of Black Lives Matter. just because that specific initiative has now ended does not mean this fight is over! in the past few weeks, we have matched over $500 in donations on our twitter account (@perhappened), and we will keep donating, signing, and boosting these causes in the name of equality for all.

our theme, CARNIVAL, may seem dissonant right now. it's celebratory–joyous, even. yet, as countless contributors and readers have expressed, we need a little joy in our lives to sustain us now more than ever. we hope you feel the same way, and that you enjoy your stay here. go ahead, punch your ticket–this carnival's in town all month!
