aforetime, the sunset hues warm upon the flesh. two days – a void of barren gas station roses, falling into a liquor store delirium, skeletal remains of a withered childhood. burning coach fumes rousing a fire in the chest, cough syrup candyland ephemera. angels of a stolen youth spewing golden tears, their lullabies an echo of the past. pharmaceutical safety of a hospital bed is no more. an anaemic limbo of prayers for a great escape – once more on the road to hometown safety.
